Lancer Foundation Names 2012 Distinguished Graduate


A 1968 Loyalsock graduate, Mr. Thomas Dempsey has served as President of Utz Quality Foods since January, 2008.  He joined Utz in 1988 as Vice President for Marketing and Executive Vice President.  Mr. Dempsey has also held various executive positions with Dun & Bradstreet, Avon Products, and CJ Clark N.A. prior to joining Utz Foods.  Mr. Dempsey is a graduate of Colgate University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, where he was a member of the basketball team, the student governance committee, and the inter-fraternity council.  Mr. Dempsey has served on the boards of United Cerebral Palsy of South Central Pennsylvania and the YMCA of Hanover.  He currently serves on the boards of the Colgate University Alumni Council, the Delta Upsilon Foundation of Colgate University, the York County Community Foundation and is currently the Board Chair for Sweet Charities of Hanover.  He was recently appointed to the Governor’s Early Learning Investment Commission.  In 2009, Tom also established the Dempsey Family Scholarship at Loyalsock, awarded to deserving Loyalsock seniors.  While a student at Loyalsock, Tom was president of the student council, a three time basketball letter recipient, and was Loyalsock’s first basketball athlete to score 1,000 points.  He is married to Rebecca, Loyalsock Class of 1971, and has two daughters, Katie and Jennifer, and he resides in Hanover, PA.
